The Department of English Literature, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (Untag) Surabaya encourages undergraduate students to challenge themselves and exercise their writing skills through submitting an original, clear-reasoning, critical-analysis, and persuasive-style essay within the given themes.
Essay Writing Themes:
1. Learning a language and literature in the 21st century
2. How language and literature graduates stay competitive in the era of industry 4.0
3. Possible solutions to the ineffectiveness of learning online in the Indonesian context.
Entry Requirements:
1. Participated by undergraduate students from any major across Indonesia
2. The essay should address only one of the given themes and must not exceed 1000 words (not counting diagrams, tables of data, footnotes, bibliography, or authorship declaration)
3. Submit your essay in a PDF format to "Submit your essay HERE" below
Key Dates:
May 29th, 2022: Submission Deadline
June, 1st, 2022: Winners will be announced through a study program website: https://inggris.untag-sby.ac.id/
Prizes:
IDR 1.500.000 = 1st best essay
IDR 1.000.000 = 2nd best essay
IDR 750.000 = 3rd best essay
Criteria:
The level of knowledge and understanding of the relevant material the competent use of evidence and the quality of argumentation the structure, writing style, and persuasive force address the given themes as precisely and directly as possible.
The judges' decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into. The best essays will be published on the English Literature study program website.
