Hang Tuah 6 Excellent Sidoarjo Junior High School has once again demonstrated innovation in education through its P5 (Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila) activities. This time, the school introduced Direct to Film (DTF) screen printing technology as part of the P5 project designed to develop students' practical skills and understanding in entrepreneurship and the arts. This activity lasted for 2 weeks, starting from 12 August 2024, until 22 August 2024 as the culmination of Gebyar P5. The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project or P5 is a programme designed by the government to integrate Pancasila values in the education process. This programme aims to form a young generation with strong, creative and innovative characters.
Hang Tuah 6 Excellent Sidoarjo Junior High School implements P5 in various activities that encourage students to learn actively and contextually. This semester, the school chose the theme of entrepreneurship by focusing on the introduction of DTF screen printing as one of the flagship projects in the programme. This screen printing technology was chosen as it offers a modern approach in the creative industry, allowing students to express their creativity through design and hands-on application.
Initially, students were asked to create a design with the theme of independence using Canva, which would be applied to the screen printing media later. Then the teacher helps students by printing their designs on special DTF paper media. Next, students were asked to transfer the design to the designated media, such as t-shirts, tote bags, hoodies, and headscarves using an iron. With this approach, students are not only taught technical skills, but also given an understanding of business opportunities in the creative industry, especially in the production of merchandise such as t-shirts, tote bags, and other fashion products.
