On 12 September 2024, SMA YPPI 2 Surabaya held an annual activity entitled "Gunung Hutan Lautan" or GHL for short. This activity is designed to enhance creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork among students. In this event, participants were divided into 10 mixed groups of X, XI, and XII grade students, and lasted for two full days with various activities that emphasised the importance of cohesiveness and collaboration. On the first day, the students and their teachers prepared their gear for the overnight stay in Trawas. They arrived at the location using a truck belonging to the TNI, then unloaded their belongings at a place determined by the teachers. Most of the activities were held in the main hall. The first activity was "Ecopreneur," which had a biology theme. Students were asked to create works related to nature, both about plants and animals. After that, representatives from each group presented their work in front of the hall, explaining the name, benefits, and functions of the work they had made.

The next activity was "Panic Cooking," where the students cooked by themselves. The teacher has provided a stove and cooking ingredients that each group has to prepare. Every two minutes, the student who cooks must take turns with other group members. Just like Ecopreneur, the cooking results are also presented by the group representatives. This activity aims to train cooperation and creativity in cooking. The main event of this year's GHL was the English Camp, which involved five stations with different challenges. Each post tested the students' English language skills, including Speaking, Listening, Writing, and Reading. Groups that successfully completed the challenges in each station earned stars and medals. After dinner, students performed a pre-prepared art and drama performance, each group carrying a different theme. After that, students did a night jit, where they walked around the dark forest with flashlights until they returned to the camp area.

On the second day, students woke up early for gymnastics and breakfast, followed by outbound activities. Outbound was guided by instructors who provided various games to train mental, concentration, and speed. After the outbound, students prepared to return to school safely after having lunch and tidying up their belongings.
